RESUMO

Highly organized π-aggregate architectures can strongly affect electronic couplings, leading to important photophysical behaviors. With the escalating interest in two-dimensional (2D) materials attributed to their exceptional electronic and optical characteristics, there is growing anticipation that 2D radial-π-stacks built upon radial π-conjugation nanorings, incorporating intra- and inter-ring electronic couplings within the confines of a 2D plane, will exhibit superior topological attributes and distinct properties. Despite their immense potential, the design and synthesis of 2D π-stacks have proven to be a formidable challenge due to the insufficient π-π interactions necessary for stable stacking. In this study, we present the successful preparation of single-layer 2D radial-π-stacks in a solution. Pillar-shaped radially π-conjugated [4]cyclo-naphthodithiophene diimide ([4]C-NDTIs) molecules were tetragonally arranged via in-plane intermolecular π-π interactions. These 2D π-stacks have a unique topology that differs from that of conventional 1D π-stacks and exhibit notable properties, such as acting as a 2D template capable of absorbing C60 guest molecules and facilitating the formation of 2D radial-π-stacks comprising [4]C-NDTI-C60 complexes, rapid exciton delocalization across the 2D plane, and efficient excitation energy funneling towards a trap.

RESUMO

Coherent Doppler wind lidar (CDWL) uses transmitted laser pulses to measure wind velocity distribution. However, the echo signal of CDWL is easily affected by atmospheric turbulence, which can decrease the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of lidar. To improve the SNR, this paper proposes a pulse accumulation method based on the cross-correlation function to estimate the phase of the signal. Compared with incoherent pulse accumulation, the proposed method significantly enhances the correlation between signals from different periods to obtain high SNR gains that arise from pulse accumulation. Using simulation, the study evaluates the effectiveness of this phase estimation method and its robustness against noise in algorithms which analyze Doppler frequency shifts. Furthermore, a CDWL is developed for measuring the speed of an indoor motor turntable and the outdoor atmospheric wind field. The phase estimation method yielded SNR gains of 28.18 dB and 32.03 dB for accumulation numbers of 500 and 1500, respectively. The implementation of this method in motor turntable speed measurements demonstrated a significant reduction in speed error-averaging 9.18% lower than that of incoherent accumulation lidar systems. In experiments that measure atmospheric wind fields, the linear fit curve slope between the measured wind speed and the wind speed measured via a commercial wind-measuring lidar can be reduced from 1.146 to 1.093.

RESUMO

We reported four patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-associated myelopathies, highlighting the delayed and atypical spinal cord magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features and the literature review. All four patients were males, aged 37 to 72 years old. The latencies from COVID-19 to the onset of myelitis were 5, 15, 30, and 80 days. The initial symptoms were numbness and weakness of lower limbs in three cases, and back pain with weakness of lower limbs in one case. The peak symptoms included paraplegia, sphincter dysfunction, sensory disturbance level, and spastic gait. The EDSS scores were 7.5, 9.0, 9.0, and 7.5, respectively. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed delayed atypical spinal cord lesions at onset, i.e., two cases without lesions, one with linear spinal meningeal enhancement, and one with punctate lesions on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI). During the follow-up period, punctate, linear, and cloudy lesions in the lateral and posterior funiculus were seen on T2WI in the peak stage. The prominent features of spinal cord lesions were linear spinal meningeal enhancement, the mismatch of deteriorated clinical symptoms, and inapparent MRI findings. All four patients were left with an obvious disability, with two patients completely bedridden and two who could stand with support. This report highlights the recognition of COVID-19-associated myelopathy even months after initial infection, especially in patients with delayed and atypical spinal cord findings on MRI.

RESUMO

JOURNAL/nrgr/04.03/01300535-202410000-00030/figure1/v/2024-02-06T055622Z/r/image-tiff Photoreceptor cell degeneration leads to blindness, for which there is currently no effective treatment. Our previous studies have shown that Lycium barbarum (L. barbarum) polysaccharide (LBP) protects degenerated photoreceptors in rd1, a transgenic mouse model of retinitis pigmentosa. L. barbarum glycopeptide (LbGP) is an immunoreactive glycoprotein extracted from LBP. In this study, we investigated the potential protective effect of LbGP on a chemically induced photoreceptor-degenerative mouse model. Wild-type mice received the following: oral administration of LbGP as a protective pre-treatment on days 1-7; intraperitoneal administration of 40 mg/kg N-methyl-N-nitrosourea to induce photoreceptor injury on day 7; and continuation of orally administered LbGP on days 8-14. Treatment with LbGP increased photoreceptor survival and improved the structure of photoreceptors, retinal photoresponse, and visual behaviors of mice with photoreceptor degeneration. LbGP was also found to partially inhibit the activation of microglia in N-methyl-N-nitrosourea-injured retinas and significantly decreased the expression of two pro-inflammatory cytokines. In conclusion, LbGP effectively slowed the rate of photoreceptor degeneration in N-methyl-N-nitrosourea-injured mice, possibly through an anti-inflammatory mechanism, and has potential as a candidate drug for the clinical treatment of photoreceptor degeneration.

RESUMO

Diclofop-methyl, an aryloxyphenoxypropionate (AOPP) herbicide, is a chiral compound with two enantiomers. Microbial detoxification and degradation of various enantiomers is garnering immense research attention. However, enantioselective catabolism of diclofop-methyl has been rarely explored, especially at the molecular level. This study cloned two novel hydrolase genes (dcmA and dcmH) in Sphingopyxis sp. DBS4, and characterized them for diclofop-methyl degradation. DcmA, a member of the amidase superfamily, exhibits 26.1-45.9% identity with functional amidases. Conversely, DcmH corresponded to the DUF3089 domain-containing protein family (a family with unknown function), sharing no significant similarity with other biochemically characterized proteins. DcmA exhibited a broad spectrum of substrates, with preferential hydrolyzation of (R)-(+)-diclofop-methyl, (R)-(+)-quizalofop-ethyl, and (R)-(+)-haloxyfop-methyl. DcmH also preferred (R)-(+)-quizalofop-ethyl and (R)-(+)-haloxyfop-methyl degradation while displaying no apparent enantioselective activity towards diclofop-methyl. Using site-directed mutagenesis and molecular docking, it was determined that Ser175 was the fundamental residue influencing DcmA's activity against the two enantiomers of diclofop-methyl. For the degradation of AOPP herbicides, DcmA is an enantioselective amidase that has never been reported in research. This study provided novel hydrolyzing enzyme resources for the remediation of diclofop-methyl in the environment and deepened the understanding of enantioselective degradation of chiral AOPP herbicides mediated by microbes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/AIM: Circular RNA (circRNA) is related to gastric carcinogenesis and progression. This study explored the effects of circTCF25 on gastric cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and cancer stem cell markers, as well as the potential network of circTCF25-miR and miR-149. MATERIALS AND METHODS: circTCF25 expression was detected in tissue specimens and cells by real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Cell Counting Kit-8 and transwell assays were used to measure the effects of circTCF25 knockdown on proliferation, migration and invasion. The potential network of circTCF25 was analyzed using bioinformatic analysis. RESULTS: circTCF25 was overexpressed in human gastric cancer tissues, and a series of cancer cell lines, and was associated with shorter overall survival. Interfering with circTCF25 reduced gastric cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion and expression of cancer stem cell markers. CircTCF25 reduced expression of miR-149, apparently by acting as a miR-149 sponge. A new circTCF25-miR-149 competitive endogenous RNA network in gastric cancer was constructed, and most core genes were associated with the malignant growth and metastatic behavior of gastric cancer. CONCLUSION: circTCF25 may have prognostic value and an oncogenic role in gastric cancer. A circTCF25-miR-149 RNA regulatory network was established which may provide novel biomarkers or potential therapeutic targets for treating gastric cancer.

RESUMO

Characterizing the local structural evolution is an essential step in understanding the nature of glass transition. In this work, we probe the evolution of Voronoi cell geometry in simple glass models by simulations and colloid experiments, and find that the individual particle cages deform anisotropically in supercooled liquid and isotropically in glass. We introduce an anisotropy parameter k for each Voronoi cell, whose mean value exhibits a sharp change at the mode-coupling glass transition ϕ_{c}. Moreover, a power law of packing fraction ϕ∝q_{1}^{d} is discovered in the supercooled liquid regime with d>D, in contrast to d=D in the glass regime, where q_{1} is the first peak position of structure factor, and D is the space dimension. This power law is qualitatively explained by the change of k. The active motions in supercooled liquid are spatially correlated with long axes rather than short axes of Voronoi cells. In addition, the dynamic slowing down approaching the glass transition can be well characterized through a modified free-volume model based on k. These findings reveal that the structural parameter k is effective in identifying the structure-dynamics correlations and the glass transition in these systems.

RESUMO

Metal sulfide-based homojunction photocatalysts are extensively explored with improved photocatalytic performance. However, the construction of metal sulfide-based S-scheme homojunction remains a challenge. Herein, the fabrication of 2D CdIn2 S4 nanosheets coated 3D CdIn2 S4 octahedra (referred to as 2D/3D n-CIS/o-CIS) S-scheme homojunction photocatalyst is reported by simply adjustment of polyvinyl pyrrolidone amount during the solvothermal synthesis. The formation of S-scheme homojunction within n-CIS/o-CIS is systematically investigated via a series of characterizations, which can generate an internal electric field to facilitate the separation and migration of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. The 2D/3D n-CIS/o-CIS composite exhibits significantly improved photocatalytic activity and stability in the selective oxidation of phenylcarbinol (PhCH2 OH) to benzaldehyde (PhCHO) when compared to pure n-CIS and o-CIS samples under visible light irradiation. It is hoped that this work can contribute novel insights into the development of metal sulfides S-scheme homojunction photocatalysts for solar energy conversion.

RESUMO

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the most common pathological type of lung cancer, but the early diagnosis rate is low. The RNA-binding ubiquitin ligase MEX3C promotes tumorigenesis in several cancers but its mechanism of action in LUAD is unclear. In this study, the biological activity of MEX3C was assessed in LUAD. MEX3C and RUNX3 mRNA levels in the tissues of LUAD patients were determined using reverse transcriptionquantitative PCR. The involvement of MEX3C in the growth and metastasis of LUAD cells was measured by EdU assay, CCK-8, colony formation, Transwell assay, TUNEL, and flow cytometry. Expression of apoptosis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition related proteins were determined using western blotting analysis. LUAD cells transfected with si-MEX3C were administered to mice subcutaneously to monitor tumor progression and metastasis. We found that MEX3C is strongly upregulated in LUAD tissue sections, and involved in proliferation and migration. A549 and H1299 cells had significantly higher levels of MEX3C expression compared to control HBE cells. Knockdown of MEX3C dramatically decreased cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and accelerated apoptosis. Mechanistically, we demonstrate MEX3C induces ubiquitylation and degradation of tumor suppressor RUNX3. Moreover, RUNX3 transcriptionally represses Suv39H1, as revealed by RNA pull-down and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays. The in vivo mice model demonstrated that knockdown of MEX3C reduced LUAD growth and metastasis significantly. Collectively, we reveal a novel MEX3C-RUNX3-Suv39H1 signaling axis driving LUAD pathogenesis. Targeting MEX3C may represent a promising therapeutic strategy against LUAD.

RESUMO

Thymoma with Immunodeficiency (Good's Syndrome, GS) is a rare association between thymoma and immunodeficiency, first described over 60 years ago. Patients with GS typically present with thymomas, reduced or absent B cells in the peripheral blood, hypogammaglobulinemia, and defects in cell-mediated immunity. We report the case of a 67-year-old woman diagnosed with GS following the development of a progressive, severe, refractory pulmonary infection and diffuse panbronchiolitis (DPB). She also had diabetes, characterized by anti-glutamic acid decarboxylase antibody positivity, leading to a diagnosis of latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA). A thorough review of existing literature revealed that GS is often confirmed after multiple episodes of opportunistic infections or autoimmune diseases post-thymoma surgery. Due to their immunodeficiency, GS patients frequently suffer from recurrent infections over extended periods, and some succumb to severe infections. Regular immunoglobulin infusions may be effective in treating GS.

RESUMO

Background and Aims: To construct a bleeding events prediction model of nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients receiving rivaroxaban. Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study in patients with NVAF who received rivaroxaban from June 2017 to March 2019. Demographic information and clinical characteristics were obtained from the electronic medical system. Univariate analysis was used to find the primary predictive factors of bleeding events in patients receiving rivaroxaban. Multiple analysis was conducted to screen the primary independent predictive factors selected from the univariate analysis. Finally, the independent influencing factors were applied to build a prediction model by using R software; then, a nomogram was established according to the selected variables visually, and the sensitivity and specificity of the model was evaluated. Results: Twelve primary predictive factors were selected by univariate analysis from 46 variables, and multivariate analysis showed that older age, higher prothrombin time (PT) values, history of heart failure and stroke were independent risk factors of bleeding events. The area under curve (AUC) for this novel nomogram model was 0.828 (95% CI: 0.763-0.894). The mean AUC over 10-fold stratified cross-validation was 0.787, and subgroup analysis validation also showed a satisfied AUC. In addition, the decision curve analysis showed that the PT in combination with CHA2DS2-VASc and HASBLED was more practical and accurate for predicting bleeding events than using CHA2DS2-VASc and HASBLED alone. Conclusions: PT in combination with CHA2DS2-VASc and HASBLED could be considered as a more practical and accurate method for predicting bleeding events in patients taking rivaroxaban.

RESUMO

The properties of functional materials based on organic π-conjugated systems are governed extensively by intermolecular interactions between π-molecules. To establish clear relationships between supramolecular structures and functional properties, it is essential to attain structurally well-defined π-stacks, particularly in solution, as this enables the collection of valuable spectroscopic data. However, precise control and fine-tuning of π-stacks pose significant challenges due to the weak and bidirectional nature of π-π stacking interactions. This article introduces the concept of "frustrated π-stacking," strategically balancing attractive (π-π interaction) and repulsive (steric hindrance) forces in self-assembly to exert control over the sizes, sequences of π-stacks, and slip-stacked structures. These research efforts contribute to a deeper understanding of the correlation between π-stacks and their properties, thereby providing useful insights for the development of molecular materials with the desired performance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer perception is closely associated with the incidence of breast cancer among community-dwelling women. Consequently, it is crucial to enhance their breast cancer survival rate by assessing their cognitive status and implementing targeted interventions. This study aimed to translate the breast cancer perception scale into Chinese and validate its psychometric properties among community women. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study method was introduced in this study. METHODS: After obtaining the original author's authorization, the breast cancer perception scale was translated into Chinese using the Brislin back-translation method. Item analysis was employed to examine the discriminative power of the items, and the Delphi method was utilized to assess content validity. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were conducted to evaluate the scale's construct validity. Internal consistency and test-retest reliability were calculated to analyze reliability. RESULTS: A total of 24 items were retained in the item analysis, and the content validity index of the translated scale was 0.964. In the EFA, six common factors were extracted, namely perceived knowledge, perceived treatment belief, perceived need for health checks, perceived stigma, perceived fear, and perceived risk, accounting for 74.911% of the cumulative variance. The CFA results were as follows: χ2/df = 1.301, GFI = 0.903, NFI = 0.913, TLI = 0.975, CFI = 0.978, IFI = 0.979, RMSEA = 0.037. The Cronbach's α coefficients, split-half reliability, and test-retest reliability of the translated scale were 0.895, 0.661, and 0.865, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The Chinese version of the breast cancer perception scale demonstrated suitable psychometric properties among community women. By evaluating results according to the scale, medical staff can enhance breast cancer prevention awareness and care for community-dwelling women and subsequently implement corresponding modifications.

RESUMO

Treating bone infections and ensuring bone repair is one of the greatest global challenges of modern orthopedics, made complex by antimicrobial resistance (AMR) risks due to long-term antibiotic treatment and debilitating large bone defects following infected tissue removal. An ideal multi-faceted solution would will eradicate bacterial infection without long-term antibiotic use, simultaneously stimulating osteogenesis and angiogenesis. Here, a multifunctional collagen-based scaffold that addresses these needs by leveraging the potential of antibiotic-free antimicrobial nanoparticles (copper-doped bioactive glass, CuBG) to combat infection without contributing to AMR in conjunction with microRNA-based gene therapy (utilizing an inhibitor of microRNA-138) to stimulate both osteogenesis and angiogenesis, is developed. CuBG scaffolds reduce the attachment of gram-positive bacteria by over 80%, showcasing antimicrobial functionality. The antagomiR-138 nanoparticles induce osteogenesis of human mesenchymal stem cells in vitro and heal a large load-bearing defect in a rat femur when delivered on the scaffold. Combining both promising technologies results in a multifunctional antagomiR-138-activated CuBG scaffold inducing hMSC-mediated osteogenesis and stimulating vasculogenesis in an in vivo chick chorioallantoic membrane model. Overall, this multifunctional scaffold catalyzes killing mechanisms in bacteria while inducing bone repair through osteogenic and angiogenic coupling, making this platform a promising multi-functional strategy for treating and repairing complex bone infections.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The study aimed to explore the depression profile of empty nesters and to identify heterogeneous subgroups in the elderly population. It explored the influencing factors of depression in elderly people with different depression profiles, with a view to provide a reference basis for improving the depression situation of empty-nesting elderly people. METHODS: This study used the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Lifespan Survey (CLHLS) survey data, with empty nesters over 60 as the research subjects. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was used to fit potential classes of depression in empty nesters; chi-square tests, Kruskal-Wallis, and multinomial logistic regression were used to explore the factors influencing different depression profiles in older adults. RESULTS: A total of 4481 subjects were included in this study and were classified as low-level (11.6 %), moderate-level (51.6 %), and high-level (36.8 %). Compared to the low-level, the influencing factors for the high-level were IADL, anxiety, self-rated health, exercise, and education; and the influencing factors for the medium level group were anxiety, self-rated health, drink, and education. Factors influencing high-level relative to the mid-level group were IADL, anxiety, residence, self-rated health, exercise, and limited in activities. LIMITATIONS: The CESD-10, as a screening tool, could not completely determine the presence of depression in high levels of empty nesters. CONCLUSIONS: Psychological problems arising from depression among empty nesters seriously affected their overall health, and targeted intervention strategies should be developed for different categories of older adults to improve depression and enhance health-related quality of life.

RESUMO

In this study, soil profiles and pore water from Japanese abandoned arsenic-containing chemical weapons (CWs) burial sites in Dunhua, China were analyzed to understand the distribution of arsenic (As) contamination, degradation, and migration processes. Results of As species analysis showed that the As-containing agents underwent degradation with an average rate of 87.55 ± 0.13%, producing inorganic pentavalent arsenic (As5+) and organic arsenic such as 2-chlorovinylarsonic acid (CVAOA), triphenylarsenic (TPA), and phenylarsine oxide (PAO). Organic arsenic pollutants accounted for 1.27-18.20% of soil As. In the vertical profiles, total As concentrations peaked at about 40-60 cm burial depth, and the surface agricultural soil exhibited moderate to heavy contamination level, whereas the contamination level was insignificant below 1 m, reflecting As migration was relatively limited throughout the soil profile. Sequential extraction showed Fe/Al-bound As was the predominant fraction, and poorly-crystalline Fe minerals adsorbed 33.23-73.13% of soil As. Oxygen-susceptible surface soil formed poorly-crystalline Fe3+ minerals, greatly reducing downward migration of arsenic. However, the reduction of oxidizing conditions below 2 m soil depth may promote As activity and require attention.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the treat-repair-treat (TRT) strategy in the treatment of severe pulmonary arterial hypertension with congenital heart disease (PAH-CHD). METHODS: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane and Web of Science online databases were searched by two independent investigators for studies that used the TRT strategy for PAH-CHD, and the retrieved studies were reviewed by a third investigator. The main outcomes were pulmonary artery pressure (PAP), pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR), 6-minute walk distance (6MWD), and transcutaneous oxygen saturation (SpO2). The changes were compared between follow-up and baseline. Stata version 14.0 was used for data analysis. A random-effects model was selected for meta-analysis. Subgroup analysis and meta-regression were used to find the source of heterogeneity. RESULTS: A total of 335 patients from 9 single-arm studies were included. Meta-analysis showed significant reductions in PAP and PVR and improvements in 6MWD and SpO2 (PAP: SMD -2.73 95% CI -2.97, - 2.50 p = < 0.001; PVR: SMD -1.27 95% CI -1.53, - 1.02 p = < 0.001; 6MWD: SMD 1.88 95% CI 1.49, 2.27 p = < 0.001; SpO2: SMD 3.72 95% CI 3.13, 4.32 p = < 0.001). Subgroup analysis showed that younger patients had better efficacy, and the change in SpO2 was an indication for patient selection. The combined mortality rate was 5% at follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: In this meta-analysis, we demonstrated that the TRT strategy may have positive effects on haemodynamics and cardiac function in patients with severe PAH-CHD at short-term follow-up. Our analysis suggests that changes in age and SpO2 may be related to patient prognosis. RESUMO

In this study, we investigate the effects of ligands on C-H activation during rhodium(III)-catalyzed C-H bond olefination reactions using well-defined [CpXRhIII] catalytic systems with three representative CpX (Cp (η5-C5H5), CpCF3 (η5-C5Me4CF3), and Cp* (η5-C5Me5)) ligands. Our results demonstrate that C-H activation as the rate-limiting step is significantly influenced by the steric properties of the CpX ligands. Moreover, we observe a dramatic acceleration of the simple [CpRhIII]-catalyzed C-H olefination reaction with acid coproducts such as HOAc, implying an autocatalytic C-H activation process.

RESUMO

Objective: The purpose of this study was to translate the Geriatric Anxiety Scale-Long-Term Care into Chinese and to assess its reliability and validity in a long-term care population, as well as to explore factors contributing to anxiety in older adults requiring long-term care. Methods: The study recruited 399 older adults residents requiring long-term care and used the Brislin double translation-back-translation method to create the initial Chinese version of the Geriatric Anxiety Scale-Long-Term Care. The study used internal consistency and split-half reliability to assess the reliability of the scale, as well as exploratory factor analysis, validation factor analysis, and content validity to assess the validity of the scale. Linear regression was used to analyze the relationship between the independent variables and anxiety levels in the long-term care population. Results: The Cronbach's coefficient value of the Chinese version of the Geriatric Anxiety Scale-Long-Term Care was 0.81, and the split-half reliability was 0.80. The results of exploratory factor analysis showed support for a one-dimensional factor structure. The results of the validation factor analysis indicated a good fit for the one-factor model. Gender (ß = 0.190, 95% CI:0.540 ~ 1.546, p < 0.001), self-rated health (ß = 0.220, 95% CI:0.379 ~ 0.953, p < 0.001), life satisfaction (ß = -0.315, 95% CI: -1.355 ~ -0.734, p < 0.001) and participation in activities (ß = -0.106, 95% CI: -1.122 ~ -0.084, p < 0.05) were significant predictors of anxiety levels in the long-term care population. Conclusion: The Chinese version of the Geriatric Anxiety Scale-Long-Term Care has good reliability and validity in the long-term care population. The Geriatric Anxiety Scale-Long-Term Care is effective in assessing the anxiety level of the Chinese long-term care older adults population and provides an opportunity to detect and observe anxiety disorders in the long-term care population.

RESUMO

Background: Pulmonary hypertensive crisis is a complication with extremely high mortality after surgery of congenital heart disease. However, there are still no treatment guidelines or expert consensus on the standard treatment of pulmonary hypertensive crisis, and the effect of conventional treatment is still unsatisfactory. We present a case of a patient who developed pulmonary hypertensive crisis after cardiac surgery, and was successfully rescued with a pioneering method, which has never been reported so far. Case summary: An infant with congenital heart disease had undergone cardiac surgery successfully. Due to obvious myocardial oedema, sternal closure was delayed. The left atrial and right ventricular pressure monitoring tubes, both of which were connected through a triplet, were inserted into right pulmonary vein and pulmonary artery, respectively, and the triplet was in closed condition. On the night of the surgery, pulmonary hypertensive crisis occurred. Emergency bedside thoracotomy was given, and the triplet was turned on urgently to make the left atrial and right ventricular pressure monitoring tubes connected. Meantime, conventional treatment was performed. Eventually, the pulmonary hypertensive crisis was quickly relieved, and the infant was discharged 9 days later. Discussion: The left atrial and right ventricular pressure monitoring tubes are placed intraoperatively in patients who both need delayed sternal closure and have high risk factors for pulmonary hypertensive crisis, by which could not only monitor the pressure of left atrium and right ventricle in real time but also effectively relieve the right ventricular pressure instantaneously when pulmonary hypertensive crisis occurs, as well as remedy ischaemia of systemic and coronary circulation.
